David Sarasohn has written opinion columns for The Oregonian since 1983, so long ago that he can remember a Republican governor, as well as many things Oregon politicians would like to forget. His columns have won the National Headliner Award, a Casey Medal for Distinguished Journalism and two Best in the West medals, as well as a Founder’s Award from the Oregon Food Bank. His writing has also appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation and Saveur magazine, and he has written three books on ludicrously diverse topics.
